Geocache Description:

Another cache along the Luce Line Trail. The Luce Line, or the Electric Short Line Railway as it was originally called, was the brain child of Colonel William Luce early in the 20th Century. It was originally created to transport passangers as well as farm goods by train throughout the western suburbs of Minneapolis. Soon, however, with the invention of cars, freight transportation became the sole purpose for the line. It eventually could no longer compete with the efficiency of trucks and was closed in the late 1960s. It was soon purchased by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and was converted into a trail system. It served its community for more than 50 years as a railway and now almost 40 more years as a trailway. Come enjoy walking where the Iron Horse once ran.
