Geocache Description:

You are looking for a water bottle. Leif Erikson #1 is located within the trail head area, of the start to the hike. Please be extra careful with this one, as it is an extreme muggle area!

Congratulations Blazingthrewthewoods on the FTF

Leif Erickson Trail, what is there not to love about this trail.... How many cities can claim an 11-mile stretch of dirt road closed to motorized vehicles that is located within a protected, urban forest? In that same forest, lies a 30 mile hiking trail called the “Wildwood” that sports a healthy amount of peripheral trails and loop-hikes. Well, if you live in Portland, Oregon, you’re incredibly lucky to have this amazing recreational resource called “Forest Park.” Leif Erikson Drive is the 11 mile stretch of dirt road running through the heart of Forest Park. It’s just a small piece of the Forest Park puzzle.

Almost all the Leif Erickson caches have been placed within a step or two of the trail (the main road). Due to heavy tree cover and slope of the hill your GPSr will wander, perhaps more on some caches than others. No bushwhacking needed! Please respect the environment, so we can keep this Geotrail up and running. Leif Erickson Trail is extremely popular and you will experience many biking/running/hiking and 4 legged muggles along this trail. Special stealth will be needed as almost all the caches are within a step or two's reach of the main gravel road. All are upon the relativly flat terrain. Please rehide the containers where you found them and cover well to avoid muggle detection.

This is a great trail to take the family on and to teach your kids about geocaching. Because of this, I don't want you to go home empty handed. Spoiler photos have been added, HOWEVER they should not be used unless absolutely needed or it changes the difficulty rating.

Please remember to practice CITO, so we can show the city and everyone who visits, that we care. Enjoy the hike (or ride) and Happy Caching!!!
