ACNA Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email) within the next 30 days, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The Antrim Creek Nature Area, A small (bigger than a 35mm canister) cache near the trail. Not too hard. Bring your own pen and small trade items.

My Great Grandparents immigrated to this area of MI back in the 1910's. We still own some lake property and the farm homestead they lived in and come "UP NORTH" every year to vacation. It's very special up here for us having spent many childhood summers up here. So we thought we should do a couple of hides.

This Nature Park Area is day-use only; no camping. It has two entrances (north end and south end) with separate parking/facilities. This cache is at the
NORTH entrance off Old Dixie Highway.

You seek a plastic camo bottle - bigger than a 35mm film canister but too short for a pen so bring your own pen/pencil. It's got room for only very small items. It's high enough off the ground so it should be ok to seek in winter too. This is almost a P&G - very close to trail/entrance.

We like the South side of the park better for the beach (there is another cache there already!) but both ends have their own unique charm.

NOTE: there is no AT&T 3G here so the Phone app does not work here - use a real GPS on this one.

Many folks living here year round are unaware of this "secret" little park area; it's not well marked from the road nor on any maps. My Great Uncle told me this was his secret and best spot to find a lot of petoskey stones way back before it was even a park.

And while doing this hide, We grabbed some stones to polish for our trades at caches "down south". We drop them in caches with a note explaining what a petoskey stone is. People down here love them.

We also have 2 hides over by Lake of the Woods day park which is closer to our family property.

Good Luck!
