This is one of a series of caches that commemorate the fifteen Division 1-A football national championships* won by The University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Each cache represents one of the NC wins and includes a brief story about the team. Links to the other hides in this series can be found in the bookmark listing to the right.

*There is a lot of debate among fans, foes, and interested observers on the real number. The actual number lies between 10 and 20. See (visit link) if you are a glutton for punishment...At any rate, 15 is what is claimed by the University, so 15 caches. Deal with it.

This cache commemorates the 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide team. Coach Saban led this squad to the BCSNCG in New Orleans, where they faced the LSU Tigers in what was a de-facto home game for LSU. Despite this advantage, the Tigers were stifled by one of the best defensive performances of all time in a game that saw LSU cross midfield only one time and accumulate only 92 yards of offense. The Tide amassed 384 yards en-route to a 21-0 victory.

This game was notable for several reasons:
* First NC game between teams from the same Conference
* First NC game between opponents from the same Conference Division
* First NC game to feature a single coach that had previously won a national championship with both participating teams
* First shutout in BCS Bowl history
* First head coach to win 3 National Championships in the BCS era
