Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the Hide What You Like To Find series!

Some of our best geocaching adventures have been along the small backroads that connect rural America. The "Scenic" routes with geological points of interest, out of the way food diners and little known roadside attractions. In our old dog-eared atlas these roads were depicted in blue.

Near Reno in the Eastern Sierras is a little gem called Sierra Valley. It's ringed by three rural routes that wind their way through little towns, small ranches, sage brush grasslands and fresh water marshes that attract migratory birds. The day we placed our cache we spotted a Bald Eagle soaring majestically above the valley near Sierraville and a young deer crossing the road near the quaint little village of Graeagle.

We have been enjoying the Sierra Valley and all it has to offer for over 25 years, long before there were any geocaches to be found. Now you can enjoy a whole day of geocaching along the "Blue Highways" in the Sierra Valley and it's surrounding areas. It has a variety of geocaching types and locations, from natural wonders to historical sites.

Our geocache in this series will take you to "where the dead people live" in Chilcoot at the east entrance to the Sierra Valley just beyond Beckwourth Pass, the lowest mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada range.

Happy Caching!
