This cache has been placed to acknowledge Garstang's Fairtrade work.
This cache is a magnetic nano.
Due to nearby caches, this cache has been placed at the bottom of the car park. Lovely view of the River Wyre here, bring along some bread for the ducks, if you can!
Ten years ago, Garstang became the world’s first Fairtrade Town (November 2001). To coincide with this anniversary, a new Fairtrade inspired information centre, community hub and café has opened – The FIG Tree (Fairtrade In Garstang).
The former Discovery Centre has been transformed to home a Fairtrade exhibition, a café using exclusively local and Fairtrade ingredients in all products where possible, a small gift shop selling Fairtrade items and musical instruments from Ghana and an educational outreach and learning centre for all ages with live video links. There will even be chocolate making workshops!
The FIG Tree will also provide refreshments, souvenirs and information for ramblers at the start of the Fairtrade Way; the world’s first long-distance Fairtrade heritage trail that links Fairtrade towns between Garstang and Keswick.
For more information on Garstang's Fairtrade work, read the information board at the pedestrian entrance to the car park.
