Høgkjetillen

I Buset, mellom Singsås og Budalen i Midtre Gauldal kommune, ligger den særegne fjelltoppen Høgkjetillen. Den er et kjærkomment turmål, sommer og vinter, for bygdefolket.

Høgkjetillen rager opp over et ellers avrundet skogslandskap, og til tross for sin beskjedne høyde på 845 meter, ser man vidt fra toppen. Snota, Trollhetta, Svarthetta, Blåhø, Forolhogna, Storskrymten og Storsylen er bare noen av toppene man kan se.

Nøkksjøen, som man kan se fra toppen, inspirerte Olav Duun til å skrive romanen ”Nøkksjølia” i 1910. Han var lærer i Singsås fra 1905- 1908.

I følge gamle sagn bodde det en tid seks jutuler samtidig i Singsås. Den mektigste av disse var Kjetill Budala, som holdt til oppe under Høgkjetillen. Han var stadig i konflikt med de andre jutulene, særlig Vintopp Høggås som bodde på gården Hugås. En gang skal grisene til Vintopp ha stukket av og kommet seg inn på eiendommen til Kjetill, og han ble rasende da han oppdaget det. Han tok en 7- 8 meter lang stein og kastet etter dyrene, og denne bautaen landet der Singsås bygdemuseum nå står.

Cachen er en liten plastkopp med loggbok, blyant, blyantspisser (la den ligge), en del bytteting og FTF- gave (tøymerke). Vi antar den er vintersikker. Turen er drøye tre km lang.

Høgkjetillen is a mountain located in Buset, in the municipality of Midtre Gauldal. It’s only 845 metres above sea level, but you can see extremely far from the top. It’s a popular hiking area both summer and winter.

Old folklore says that there were once six giants living in Singsås at the same time. The most powerful of these was Kjetill Budala, who lived at Høgkjetillen. He constantly fought with the others, especially Vintopp Høggås who lived at Hugås farm. Vintopp’s pigs once ran away, and Kjetill found them at his land. This made him furious, and he threw a 7- 8 m long stone at them. He didn’t hit them, though. The stone landed in the centre of Singsås, and is now a monument next to the local museum, Singsås bygdemuseum.

The cache container is a small plastic box, containing a log, pencil, pencil sharpener (leave it), a few tradings and a FTF gift (geocaching patch). It's a three km long walk.
