How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

It is required that you physically visit the cache site. No armchair finds are allowed.


Virtual cache. Follow the coords to the large, full body bronze statue of this famous man that has been standing in the park since 1888. He faces generally south and is deploying an item from his waistband. He is on a granite pedestal and in total, stands nearly 21 feet tall.

IMPORTANT: one email per user find log.

Find logs must be posted at the same time you EMAIL (do not use message system) your answers and each finder must submit their own email, no multiple user find logs for one email. If you are caching with others you must each, individually send an email with your answers.

All 4 questions must be answered correctly to qualify for a find log post. Any find logs posted without having emailed the required answers will be immediately deleted. Please do not post a find if you haven't sent your answers.


To log the cache as a find you must email the following:

  1. What is his name?
  2. When did he live?
  3. What is the lower-most (closest to the ground) eight-letter word engraved at the bottom of the pedestal on the north side (statue back)?
  4. What 5-letter word appears in the upper-right corner of the nearest storm drain grate?

Don't post your answers here, even if encypted.
