Historic site in Holbrook. Lots of change of use. First National Bank of Holbrook chartered May 1922 with $25,000 capital.
Take a 1 miles historic walking tour from here. You might want to get the Historic Holbrook Tourbook at the Courthouse Museum for longer history of these sites.
From the Dusty River geocache, walk across SR 77 to N 34 53.993 and W 110 09.482 to view the South Central Avenue historic marker. Notice the Buckets of Blood saloon name at the top of one of them. The Saloon was infamous for cowboy gunfights. Walk to N 34 53.996 and W 110.09.446 where you will find the Young T Co. warehouse. Wool from the Navajo Reservation was collected here for rail shipment. The Santa Fe Depot can be found at N 34 54.001 and W 110 09.519. Across the railroad tracks, visit the Blevins House at N 34 54.023 and W 110 09.417 where there was another famous shootout. The historic marker tells about the Beale Wagon Road (there is another geocache about this specific Road) Proceed westward to the old White Saloon N 34 54.034 and W 110 09.449 (now the site for the Hashknife Sheriff's Office Posse). On the corner is the old J&J Trading Post N 34 54. 034 and W 110 09.502. Across the road at N 34 54.037 and W 110 09.538 is the site of the former Green Lantern Tea Room. Route 66 came down Navajo Blvd and turned west at Nevins. When Route 66 west was moved to Hopi Dr, the Green Lantern Tea Room lost a lot of revenue. The owner sued, won his case, and moved to a different location. You may find it fun to get your picture taken at the current business at this site.
