Geocache Description:

An easy drive-by cache. Take a moment to admire the building and the view across the valley. Best to avoid visiting on Sunday mornings! Please make sure you cover the cache so it is not visible from above.

On April 24th, 1882, under the leadership of Rev Hogben, a foundation stone for a neat Gothic edifice built of local freestone was laid. The church was designed to seat 150 people, had two 12' x 11' rooms at the rear, and cost £750.

By 1894 the membership had swelled to 50 and within 30 years, the membership had risen to 82. In 1910 work commenced to extend the vestry to include a new Sunday School room and stage area.

In 1993 new extensions included a children’s playground, renovation of the existing stage area to form usable rooms, upgrading the existing kitchen area, raising the existing worship area floor, and a new multipurpose worship area, baptistry, pastor’s office, church office and meeting area.

Now, in 2011 the church is once again looking to redevelop the property to cater for its dynamic and growing multi-generational congregation.

Cache was hidden at 11am on 11/11/11 and as the name suggests, is full of Purple trinkets:
