Gammalstorp är en småort i Sölvesborgs kommun, Gammalstorps socken
i Blekinge län. Namnet är belagt sedan 1417 i uppteckningar och
anses komma av en dansk namnbildning Gammalstrup, d.v.s. det gamla
torpet. Gammalstorp ligger mellan Ryssberget och kustlinjen till
den numera utdikade sjön Vesan.
Samhället har vuxit upp kring kyrkan och det tidigare bränneriet,
intill järnvägen mellan Sölvesborg och Karlshamn. Huvudnäringen är
jordbruk och livsmedelsproduktion, mestadels i form av uppfödning
av svin och slaktkycklingar.
Gammalstorps församling sträcker sig däremot från byn Jockarp till
Kylinge by, vilket är en sträcka på ca 15km.
I Gammalstorp fanns tidigare en järnvägsstation på Blekinge
kustbana. Den dåvarande skolan och daghemmet, hade 45 elever då det
lades ned 2004, p.g.a. vikande elevantal i innerstadens skolor.
Idag finns dock ett privat, mycket omtyckt "ur och skur-dagis" i
den f.d. godtemplargården. Förr fanns det i byn två lanthandlare
och även en brandstation med en bil.

Gammalstorp is a small village in the municipality of Sölvesborg,
Gammalstorp parish in the county of Blekinge. The name is dated
since 1417 in the records and is considered to be a Danish name
Gammalstrup formation, ie the old cottage. Gammalstorp is located
between the hill “Ryssberget” and the coastline to the
now drained lake Vesan.
The village has grown up around the church and the old distillery,
near the railway between Sölvesborg and Karlshamn. The main
industry is agriculture and food production, mostly in the form of
rearing pigs and chickens.
Old Torp parish stretches from the village of Jockarp to Kylinge
village, a distance of about 15km.
In Gammalstorp was formerly a railway station on the Blekinge coast
line railway. The former school and day care center, had 45
students when it was closed in 2004, due the lack of pupils in
inner city schools. Today there is a private, very popular "rain or
shine-kindergarten" in the former house of Good templar. In former
days there was in the village two village shops and even a fire
station with one car.
