Canberra Console Collection is a series of caches highlighting home game consoles past and present stemming from my love of video games as entertainment and an art form.
Note: The top of the container is attached, remove the rest to retrieve the log leaving the top in place. The Virtual Boy was developed and manufactured by Nintendo and released in 1995. It used an effect known as parallax to be the first home game console to display "3D graphics". It resembles a pair of red binoculars on stilts that you would peer into to be immersed in a monochromatic world of red LED pixels (these were cheaper than other colours, didn't drain batteries as quickly and were the most visually appealing of the choices). Due to various reasons including fears of what this technology would do to your eyes (games even featured 15 minute breaks) it didn't fly off the shelves and was discontinued in 1996.
