Saddle Stop (Wairarapa) Traditional Cache

This cache is located on the saddle summit on the track between Miki Miki and Kiriwhakapapa.
This is a well graded and benched walk through forest that has regenerated well after being logged for its rimu and other podocarp trees in the 1930s. Very recently new bridges have been added and now only requires one shallow river crossing. There are a few old relics from the logging days along the tracks. The track can be muddy in places after rain.
Walking takes 2 hours between each road end, if you don't have a car at each end you will have to return the same way.
The weather in Tararua Forest Park can change quickly.
• Warm, waterproof clothing, food and drink should be carried, even on short walks.
• Sturdy shoes or walking boots should be worn on tramping tracks.
