Cache is NOT at posted coordinates. The coordinates take you to the center of a circular loop road. The cache hunter will need to complete a short field puzzle from the surrounding loop road to find the cache, and get the smiley. This cache can be completed very quickly if you can grasp the concept!
All of the clues needed to find this cache can be seen from the surrounding loop road. To find the clues, you need to understand how to navigate with bearings. (A bearing is the angle between a line connecting two points and a north-south line, or meridian. Bearings are often used in aircraft and marine navigation, two very successful industries in this area.)
To find the cache, you will have to find clues at four locations using only bearings FROM the cache coordinates. Once all of the clues have been found, use your findings to solve the formula below to get the final bearing to the actual cache!
Step 1 - Make your way to the intersection of the loop road and each bearing below radiating out from the point of the cache coordinates. (In other words, if the bearing was 360, you would need to be on the loop road due north of the posted coordinates to find the clue. A bearing of 090 would be due east, 180 due south, and so on.)
Step 2 - At each location you should find a clue in the form of a number. Look for the clues near the road at the following bearings from the posted coordinate point...

Step 3 - Using the numbers that you found at each location, find the sum and SUBTRACT 10. Use your answer as a new bearing to find the actual cache. (The final number will be a pretty "simple" bearing, and you should know if you have it right or not. If you're not sure, it's probably not right. Feel free to email the c/o to check your bearing before you start hunting if you like.)
Step 4 - Go to the solved bearing direction and look for the cache itself just a feet feet inside the tree line, in a tree (Unless the storms knocked it out.).
Friendly reminder, if you aim your GPS to the coordinates FROM the road, the bearing will be reversed. Also, the bearings are measured using true north, so if you're using magnetic compasses, the bearing may need to be corrected roughly 6.5 degrees!
