Geocache Description:

If you value your health dont Edoff anything here.

The coordinates will bring you to a cheery little tucked away cove along the beautiful Lake Merritt. What struck me as interesting was that there was not a cache in the immediate area. Since it seemed a good destination for a cache would be near the mysterious bandstand. Then one day I found the perfect hiding spot and the little history behind the bandstand.

Take a stroll along Lake Merritt on Bellevue Avenue and you will come across a magnificent bandstand where in recent years there were weekend concerts performed by an extremely talented Oakland band. The James Edoff Memorial Bandstand was built in 1923, in honor of James P. Edoff, one of the most prominent and progressive citizens of Oakland and one whose labors have been effective forces in the city's development. According to history files, the Oakland Municipal Band is the second oldest municipal band in California, and one of the oldest in the country. During its peak years, the band performed up to 17 times in a season.

The cache will require some stealth as the cache is along the very public walkway. BYOP
