Welcome to the Santee Cooper Electric Cooperative Green Power Solar Panel Array. The site is the largest solar panel array installation in the state as of this date (11/12/2011). Currently, this is just a test station and the power generated is fed back to the distribution station. There are several informative signs that give more information about the installation. The solar panels here are only a small part (1/5) of the total array. Most of the panels are mounted on top of the buildings inside the fenced area to the left of GZ. You can get a good view of them by utilizing the satellite view of the geocaching maps.
Please pull off the road and onto the grass when visiting. There was supposed to be a parking area built here, but so few people visit I guess Santee Cooper decided to spend the money elsewhere.
