THE CACHE IS ON THE GROUND LEVEL, NOT AT THE OBSERVATORY LEVEL.
In the cast shadow of the tallest local building lies a much smaller and much older building. It has survived the tests of time and economic domination. Please appreciate the significance of that preservation as you enjoy a cache find. At the bottom of an urban canyon formed by several buildings, your GPSr cannot provide accurate guidance to the cache. A newer 44-floor building across the street is making GPSr bounce worse than before! We suggest you rely on a satellite view to get close, then use your "geosenses," the description here and the hint to find the prize. Close parking is possible evenings and weekends; only if very lucky during weekdays. Handicacher rating: H11411.
PLEASE USE STEALTH SKILLS TO PRESERVE THIS CACHE. We request you to minimize your search time and follow these guidelines to ensure this cache is not Muggled in this highly visible spot. (1) Don't grab the cache, or return it, when people are watching. SEVERAL searchers have broken this rule leading to repeated loss of the cache.(2) Walk downhill after retrieval to sign the log. Do not go uphill to the side entrance of Columbia Tower where a security camera is watching. [Duh!]
During weekdays, restaurants and washrooms are available nearby. The view from the 73rd floor Sky View Observatory at 902 feet elevation can be fantastic! Open 8 am to 8 pm Thu-Sun. It's crazy expensive though.
