This section of the Pacific Crest Trail is found in Green Valley near the Green Valley Station and Heli Pad. Green valley is situated in Dowd Canyon and the PC Trail crosses it on it's way to...and through...Spunky Canyon. The Leona Divide Fire Road (6N04) runs along the ridge line above this easy hiking trail.
You're looking for a cammo'd plastic container.
You'll be hiking in sage, oak, and manzanita....beautiful vistas can be seen as you hike along the trail. These are the Sierra Pelona Mountains in the Angeles NF. There's free parking on the wide shoulder at the trailhead off San Francisquito Canyon Road. Bring some water and a camera to snap some shots while hiking on the trail. The Pacific Crest Trail signs are clearly labeled on both sides of the road so you can hike towards the south or towards the north....the PCT stretches from the California/Mexico border to the Washington/Canada border. More trails, maps, links, and info can be found at: www.localhikes.com and www.LAMountains.com. Happy Caching!
