Max's Horse Rock Traditional Cache
blamelewis: I'm really sad to have to archive this cache - my first - as despite making every effort to contact the company cutting the grass their machines have destroyed the cache, and a replacement has been stolen.
However there we go. It was a great cache while it lasted, thanks to all who came and found it.

The cache is at the edge of the Laighdykes playing fields in Saltcoats. This should be an easy find on flat terrain - the last few feet involve crossing grass - this can get a bit muddy if it's been raining. Beware also of inconsiderate dog owners who don't clear up after their animals. Please also re-cover the cache as best you can when replacing.
The Laighdykes playing fields have been host to many a highland games and funfair over the years. Local rumour has it that a nearby resident, disgruntled at the annual incursion of fairground vehicles onto the field, fetched a few wee pebbles from a nearby quarry and arranged them at an entrance to the field to prevent vehicles from gaining entry. Local rumour also has it that the vehicles simply used another entrance.
The geocache should be an easy find, parking is usually available on the adjacent streets. Muggles may be around: the playing fields are popular with dog walkers and school children often pass through the fields on their way to or from local schools. Please be extra Muggle-aware at lunchtime and at the beginning and end of school days. Please be considerate and mindful of nearby residents.
Look out for Paddington in the window of number 10!
The container is a small round locking plastic food box. The cache contains a simple paper log book and pencil - please leave the pencil in place for other finders!
There are also some trade items and the cache is big enough to accept trackable tags and coins.
Use the title and your imagination to find the cache. It's my first one, and a birthday present to my son Max who plays here a lot. Happy Birthday Max!
