Geocache Description:

A nice flat walk along a wide path on an old railroad bed which is now the Ontario Pathways.

As you walk or bike along this trail you will see remnants of the old railroad bed. Some chunks of cinder and coal can still be seen if you look down at the trail as you walk along. Maybe even an old spike in a tie. Enjoy the scenery and wildlife too as you make your way to the cache. Benchmark on the way to this cache at: N42 52.555 W077 12.327 Old pin style on south side of trail. (Where creek runs under the trail). See Related Web Page for more details.

A rail spike is a large nail with an offset head that is used to secure rails to railroad ties in the track. Robert Livingston Stevens is credited with the invention of the railroad spike, being first used in at least 1832. The most famous spike of all is the Golden Spike which is the ceremonial final spike driven to join the rails of the First Transcontinental Railroad across the United States on May 10, 1869. I don’t think you will see one of those along the old railroad bed though.

Please obey private property signs along the trail. Please bring your own pen or pencil. You are looking for a camoed pill container.

Congratulations to Captain Jon for FTF !
