GBES Birthday Celebration & Awards Potluck

Idlewild Park - California Building - 75 Cowan Drive, Reno,
Nevada
WHEN:
Saturday, January 21, 2012 - 6:30-8:30pm
We rented a room for this
years bash! So bring the whole family & your favorite muggles!
This is a potluck so please bring a dish to share with
others. Please RSVP with a WILL ATTEND log on this cache page
with your expected number of adults and children attending so we
can make sure to set up enough tables. Feel free to let us
know what kind of dish you will be bringing to share.
Unfortunately, our contract with the City of Reno does not allow
alcohol at this function. NO alcohol is allowed at this
event. Please be respectful of this
rule.
1000 FIND PINS!
Our annual birthday party is also the only
time you can obtain the coveted 1000 finds pin! Yep, that's
right, we provide you a snazzy pin for finding 1000 caches.
The only requirements are:
- You must be a registered
member, in good standing of the GBES. That means you have
registered on our website, gbesgeo.org or have sent us an email
requesting membership to
GBESevents@gmail.com
- You have found at least
1000 caches based on the information found in your account at
geocaching.com.
- You must also notify the
board of GBES at GBESevents@gmail.com that you have found 1000
caches and would like to receive your pin at the party. We
are not mind readers (although, Tommy is working on
it).
Members of GBES who live outside of our
home territory (Californians west of the Crest of the Sierra; or
members from other states or countries) are subject to the above
rules in addition to one of the
following:
- You have found at least
100 (one hundred) caches within Nevada's
borders.
- You have completed the
Nevada DeLorme Challenge cache.
- You have participated, and
completed, one of the GBES Geocaching & Navigational
Rallies.
- You have
attended a minimum of five GBES sponsored
events.
Special circumstances will be evaluated on a
case by case basis.
AWARDS FOR THE BEST CACHES OF
2011
We will also be honoring the BEST CACHES of
2011! We will be voting for our favorite caches at the party!
Nominations are being accepted from now until January 7,
2012. Please send your nominations to us at
GBESevents@gmail.com.
Cache award categories are: Most Creative,
Most Difficult, Best Regular/Large, Best Small or Micro, Best
Multi, Best Series, Best Puzzle, Favorite All-Time, Best Cache in
North, South, East & West.
All cache nominations must have been published
in the 2011 calendar year, with exception of Favorite
All-Time.

ELECTIONS
We will also be electing 4 members to the GBES
board of directors at this event. All registered GBES members
can vote (you can register at the event if you haven't done so
yet). If you would like to be nominated for a position or
know someone who would be a great asset to our team, please send us
