This is an easy drive-by located in the quaint little community of Plain, WA. Bring a writing tool. The cache is not in the mailbox.
Plain, WA, originally known as Beaver Valley was initially settled around 1891. The valley was a thick forest that was painstakingly cleared in an attempt to be changed into an agricultural valley. Using primitive tools and horses, timber was harvested and stacked by the Wenatchee River and transported to a mill in Leavenworth during spring floods. The future would determine that the valley was unfit for it’s original intended purpose. Instead, the settlers unknowingly created a beautifully pristine valley, which has now become a recreational destination.
At GZ you will be looking at a gang saw, which is a power saw that has several parallel blades making simultaneous cuts. I am still researching more details on this particular saw. If you know anything, please let me know.
Plan on taking extra time while in Plain. Check out the hardware store, it has much more to offer than a plain old hardware store. Also, the Old MillCafé in Plain is open for breakfast and lunch weekdays (except Tuesday and Wednesday) and for breakfast, lunch & dinner on Friday & weekends, great food and pastries, the dining room is adorned with fabulous pictures of Beaver Valley’s history. Well worth a visit.
Photograph postings are appreciated!
