Geocache Description:

This is #27 in my NFL series. Some people have emailed me about when the Seahawks cache was coming out. And that it should be a larger cache because the Seahawks need all the support they can get. Well here you go and it's my first ammo can placement!

This cache is located on the grassy side parking lot of the Historic Goble Tavern. I do have permission to place it. When I moved here from Chicago in 2003, I never really thought about the history of Columbia County until about 5yrs ago when I'd take the then infant geochild out for drives to get her to fall asleep. I'd pass Goble Tavern and think, wow, that place needs a remodel!!! And in 2007, the remodel finally started. The town of Goble has quite a bit of history. "In 1896 Goble was plotted by pioneer George Foster and was named after Daniel Goble, an Ohio trapper who staked first claim to the city. As many as six trains daily stopped on their run to Seattle. Steam boats plying the Columbia River required fuel, and the huge stands of native timber surrounding the three communities (being Goble, Neer City and Reuben) made them a natural fueling station. Of course, Reuben does not exist today and Neer City is just a speck on a map." "Of course as time went on, the boom diminished. River boats, trains and loggers began to move on, abandoning Goble's hotel, two mills, boarding house, barber shops, hardware store, two general stores, church, school, and lamentably, the Red Men Lodge Hall. Even the town's cold storage plant, where frozen fisher were packed for export, closed." Now, I have not been able to determine exactly when the Goble Tavern opened originally. Just that it's been around for a very long time! And for some trivia, did you know that Willie Nelson's mother worked there as a bartender? Yes, back in the 50's! On to the cache... You are looking for an ammo can, in the grassy area of the parking lot. Please replace camo. I should add that this area is where people park their vehicles when they ride the bus.
