In 1934 members of the isolated community near Cape Jaffa held a gathering to collect timber & paddock rocks, to burn the stones for lime as an exercise to save funds. With the assistance of the local M.P. Mr. Petherick & Mr. A Fidge a builder from Robe
their dream of a local school became a reality, on 23 January,1935. The school closed in 1951 but, although some scavenging has occured, the building is still there on the junction of Limestone & Holmes Roads.
The old lighthouse is now in Kingston & is
open for viewing. The Cape is the site for a new marina which will be inpressive when completed. Also the area has several wineries which cater for any tipplers
