An easy place to find along a beautiful country path near the Old Town.The altitude is about 100 m. by the sea. The terrain is quite plain, with stones and bricks walkways and some differences in levels, some high steps made of stone.
Una bella passeggiata a partire dal Paese Alto. Terreno quasi in piano, qualche gradino alto.
(I):Una volta lasciata l'auto nel grande posteggio di fronte al centro storico (Paese Alto) dovete attraversare la "Porta del Capo" ed entrare nella città.
Continuate dritto sotto le volte fin su alla piazza.
Guardate all'ingresso della chiesa di S. Maria Maddalena; sulla destra c'è un vicolo stretto, prendetelo.
Quando sarete di fronte ad un muro di pietre a secco, girate a destra e continuate sullo stesso livello, non su o giù, non a destra o a sinistra.
Dovrete passare attraverso un'antica,claustrofobica, galleria.
Siete ora sul "beodo", uno stretto cammino usato per secoli dalle famiglie locali per recarsi alle loro coltivazioni.
E' la "Promenade des Anglais" di Bordighera, da quando gli Inglesi si stabilirono qui, nel 1800, fondando gran parte della città nuova. Amavano recarsi qui in cerca dell'ombra e di motivi particolari da dipingere.
Al termine di una parata di palme noterete, sulla sinistra, un grande ulivo, il più antico in città.
Siete sopra il vecchio cimitero inglese e di fronte a quello, circondata dall serre, vedrete una piccola torre: Claude Monet iniziò la sua sperimentazione con i dipinti in serie dello stesso motivo proprio lì, fece 4 dipinti dello stesso oggetto!
Sotto l'albero c'è la riproduzione di un altro dipinto di Monet preso nelle vicinanze.
Guardate intorno all'albero, il posto è quello.

Dopo, se vorrete continuare verso nord, troverete le rovine di un vecchio ponte romano, o dopo circa 70m.,
potreste prendere la "scala Santa" fin giù al cimitero,(quello antico inglese è nella sezione di mezzo, campo B) e vedere da vicino la torre di Monet.
Potete continuare fino alla strada, la via Aurelia e girando a destra continuare alcune decine di metri fino a via Garnier, sulla destra salendo.
Troverete una grande casa bianca con una bella torre: è la villa che l'architetto francese Charles Garnier (quello dell'Operà di Parigi)fece per sé quando decise di vivere qui. Più avanti sulla stessa via troverete il suo strano studio "Villa Studio", con il suo logo. Ancora poche decine di metri e sarete nuovamente ritornati al posteggio.

(E): Once you have left your car in the big parking place facing the Old Town of Bordighera (Paese Alto)you have to enter inside the walls of the city by the main entrance "Porta del Capo".
Go forward under the vaults up to the square. Look at the main door of the church of S. Maria Maddalena; on the right there is narrow street, take that.
When you face a wall made of stones you turn right, then continue on the same level, not up or down, not left or right.
You have to go through an old claustrophobic tunnel. You are now on "il beodo", a very narrow path used for centuries by the local families to go to their crops/terrains.
It's Bordighera's "Promenade des Anglais", as the English estabilished here during the 19th century, founding a big part of the new town.
They loved to come here in search of shadow and inspiring views to paint. At the end of a parade of old palms, on the left, you will notice a big olive tree, the oldest in town.
You are above the old english cemetery and just in front of that, surrounded by glasshouses, you will still see a little tower: Claude Monet started his "serial painting" of the same subject just there, he made 4 different versions of that object!
Under the tree there is a reproduction of another painting of Monet, taken nearby.
Look around the olive tree, somewhere near is the place!
The geocache is waiting for you.
After, if you will go further north, you will find the ruins of roman bridge (some hundreds meters) or, after 70 m., take the holy stair down to the cemetery (the old british is in middle section, "campo B") and have a look at Monet's tower. You can continue to the main road, "la via Aurelia", turning right, and after few meters turn right, up along the "via Garnier".
You will see a big, white house with a nice tower: it's the villa that the french architect Charles Garnier made for himself when he decided to live here. Further on the same street you will see his strange studio "Villa Studio" with his own logo. A few further meters and you are back to the parking place.
