Located in McCloud Nature Park. Please park at the Nature Center
and take Red Tailed Ridge Trail to the cache, which is a taped
peanut butter canister. Park is open from dawn to dusk. Please list
any or all the birds you saw while getting your smiley!
Welcome to beautiful McCloud Nature Park! This is our third hide
here, and since each of the boyz hid and named the first two, I did
this one on my own. Bird watching is a fun hobby that we enjoy ,
and this park offers some great bird watching opportunities, as
well as many tools to help you in your quest. You will want to take
the Red Tailed Ridge trail and follow to your closest reading. It
should be a pretty easy find, I couldn't pass up this location.
Some of the birds we've spotted on this trail are downy
woodpeckers, cardinals, red-tailed hawks, owls, blue jays, pileated
woodpeckers, and many more, too many to name. If you go to the
Nature Center, there is a wonderful bird-viewing area, as well as
books, posters, computers, etc. to help you identify various
species. Volunteers are happy to help you as well. While hiding the
cache, I spotted a pair of cardinals and a pileated woodpecker
along the trail. When you log your visit, please list any or all of
the birds you saw on your walk. There is a 2011 Hallmark
Black-Capped Chickadee mini ornament for the FTF. I didn't see this
species on the trail, but did get to watch it from the bird-viewing
area after hiding the cache. As always, may the force be with you!!
