Geocache Description:

In 1905, Lena Geer moved to Maryhill, Washington, with her family. On May 31, 1910, she married John A. Jaekel who was born and raised in Centerville. As a young man, John established the family sheep ranch near Wishram where the sheep wintered on the Columbia Hills. In 1911, John and Lena built the Old Rock House which is located a few miles west of the Maryhill Museum and still stands today. In those days, the ranch extended from Wishram to the Museum, and included the land where the Maryhill Winery is now located.

This cache was placed by a fifth generation descendent - the great, great granddaughter of John and Lena (Geer) Jaekel.

This is an offset cache that requires information from the marker located at these coordinates. The cache is in an ammo box and is well hidden but easy to access once it is found. No digging required! This statement will make sense once you arrive. Some of the original contents include: a small frame, cluster of grapes keychain, Maryhill Winery postcard, travel bug "Bessie", Maryhill Winery corkstop, and a frog.

To find the final location of the cache: Subtract 1339 from the year Lena Jaekel was born.

N 45 41.---

And then subtract 1176 from the year John Jaekel was born.

W 120 48.---
