This is one of ten caches placed in conjunction with the Red Deer Geocachers' 2011 Christmas event (GC37PXD). Thank you to choice1 for providing the cache container and original contents.
“The cold air that holds cities in its icy grip is a messenger from harsh and distant places. This is the same air that, a few days ago, musk oxen drew close to protect against, snowy owls glided through like ghosts, Arctic foxes padded through in silvery nights. It is the breath of life held in common by timber wolves, caribou—and you.” ~ Barbara Stanton
This 1.1 litre LnL was originally located in flood debris from the flooding of the Red Deer River in 2005. In 2013, the area was flooded again and the debris swept away. When the cache was returned, it was placed in a nearby new pile of flood debris. A new piece of pink flagging was tied 2 - 3 m from the cache at the height reached by the flood waters.
Most of the walk to this cache is along the paved Trans Canada Trail. Watch your footing once you leave the trail and travel over scattered flood debris (small branches, etc). There may be lots of people on the trail--please use stealth and leave the cache hidden well.
Congratulations to RabidRider who scores a hat trick of FTFs on the RDGEO Christmas caches! Thanks for the photos. Now on to the event so other cachers can be recognized on the trail!
