A camoed soda bottle preform hidden just off the trail near the junction of the Ward Road and Ranch Springs Trail.
I was coming back up the trail from the FIT cache evaluating how fit I really was and decided that dropping a cache to mark this junction was a legitimate excuse for a pause. The cache is just off the trail in an obvious hiding spot a short distance from the junction at a spot where Ward Road begins a more serious descent toward Portola Redwoods State Park.
The day this one was placed was an excellent day for hiking -- cool and partially overcast, but this area can get pretty warm in the summer so come prepared. The hike to here and back from the nearest parking on Skyline is a little less than 4 miles RT with about 400 feet of climb going back.
As with all these areas, watch out for snakes, ticks and PO. Didn't see any PO near or on the route to the cache, but it could be hiding down there waiting for spring, so be alert.
