Geocache Description:

August 17th 1940A
Kenley airfield came under attack
This was the start of a three pronged attack on Kenly, precision dive-bombing on the station buildings. A high level attack, by a flight of Dorniers. This was then followed by a low level attack by 9 Dorniers.
The plan was to knock out the airfield.
By the end of the attack three hangers were destroyed and six more were damaged ,the Ops room was put out of action, many other buildings were damaged.
September 3rd
An emergency operations centre was opened in the middle of Caterham. The GPO engineers had transferred the complex telephone system of Fighter Control from the aerodrome to a little shop in the Godstone road. This little shop was Spice and Wallis butcher.
