Greatland Reviewer: This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache and because the Cache Owner has not been online since January 2022. If you would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

The first stage is NOT at the coordinates above... but it might be below... :)

READ ALL OF THE LONG DESCRIPTION BEFORE ATTEMPTING. THIS CACHE IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND REQUIRES CERTAIN ITEMS FOR SAFETY, DO NOT ATTEMPT IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED. DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME, we are out here to have fun, not to get hurt.

Ok, so a fiendish concoction of the brains of RTUMIN and Kipster11.
This cache requires the following items:
~Three sources of light (Thanks for the correction Wholagal) :)
~Head protection (at least a hat)
~Long pants
~Boots or suitable hiking shoe that will protect the ankle
~Rain gear or warm sweatshirt
-and-
~another cacher for safety (If you can find one to go with you...)

The first stage:
For the first stage you are going to want to go up to Kaumana caves, just up the road from the first list coordinates. You will need to park across the street and enter the lava tube near the coordinates listed as way point 1
*Note* way point 1 has nothing at it as well, just is the general location of Kaumana lava tube system
PART 1
To find the first stage you are going to need to go underground! Follow the following directions precisely and you will have no problems whatsoever. (now the short description makes sense...)

Please note - Once you are in the tube system, there is one way down and one way back up from the location of the first stage, you don't need to get worried about getting lost, just follow the light from the entrance back out, it carries a very long way down into the tube.

Step 1: Enter through the stairs, and go down the right side of the lava tube system. (enter down stairs, turn right).
Step 2: You will come up to a crawl space a small distance down the tube, go through it (watch your head and legs!)
Step 3: After going through the crawl hole in the tube, you will enter a larger room. Walking through this room, you will come across a lower part of the room, and a higher part of the room, looking like a shelf. If you walk straight forward, not going up onto the shelf, you will terminate at a ledge that is about 5 feet tall. If you were to go on, you would need to climb up this 5 foot ledge that goes the width of the room. DO NOT CLIMB UP THE LEDGE
Step 4: At the point where the ledge comes together in the middle you will notice a large crack, (about 2.5 feet up from the ground) as seen in the cave picture located here: (visit link)
Set your flashlight on this crack as see where the light shines through it. Where the beam hits the ground is 3 feet or less from PART 1. This beam should hit very close to where your feet are when you are setting your light down on the crack.
You will find 3 numbers in the stage 1 part of the cache. You will need these 3 numbers to find the final stage.
Now, exit the lava tube by going back the way you came.

PART 2
Part 2 seems very straight forward, but it is not as easy as it looks. You are going to want to pay close attention to the following.
Step 1: Your final cache coordinates are at the following location:

N 19 41.________<- Last part found in the lava tube
W 155 07.896

Step 2: The trail head coordinates are downloaded from the website automatically, but are listed here:
N 19 41.195
W 155.07.852

For this trail, you are going to need to bushwhack a lot in certain places, but have no fear, it opens up into an easier (if you can call it that) trail after about 400 feet... The area that you are going to search for the cache will have much better GPS reception than the area that you will hike through for most of the journey.

PLEASE NOTE:
Just like the lava tube, the trail has some very lose rocks, potential areas where ankles can be turned, etc. Take your time, ask for help if you need it, and above all, have fun and enjoy the scenery. Both areas are beautiful in their own right. Enjoy the hide!

Again, please contact me if you need anything. I live relatively close to the cache and can come give you pointers if you give me enough notice before hand.

Way to go mudchucker, wholagal, piilani7, and kkuoha guys for the FTFs
