Geocache Description:

Within easy walking distance of the Golden Gates (metro station Zoloti Varota) is St. Sophia Cathedral. The first foundations of the cathedral were laid a millennium ago, and in 2011 the cathedral celebrated its 1000th anniversary. The church complex has different parts, and it well worth a visit if you have not been there before.

Out on the square in front of the cathedral entrance is a statue of Bogdan Khmelnitsky. He was a Cossack who led an uprising against the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in the mid 1600s, which resulted in the creation of a Cossack state.

The cache is located in the fence around the statue. Note that you don't need to climb over the fence to reach the cache. There is more than one container in place, giving more log sheet space to sign if one log becomes full (and providing a backup if a container disappears; the cache has been muggled more than once). If you find both containers, please only sign one.
