Geocache Description:

Sometimes on a quiet Sunday afternoon, Eliza Jane and Boots would take a little walk over to Wilkeson’s Island.

The Island was beautiful once again, now that Mr. Wilkeson had planted an orchard there. The big old trees of the Island had long since disappeared to the lumber mills. It was most pleasant to come here during Autumn harvest, as there was a little fruit stand where Eliza Jane would buy two apples for a penny. One for herself and one to take home to Grand Mother.

If she walked across the whole Island, she would often see signs that beavers had been here. They also had almost disappeared with the old trees, but she knew they were still around, by the chewed trees near the River’s edge. Wouldn’t Mr Wilkeson be angry if the beavers started to take trees from the orchard?!

Eliza Jane and Boots sat down near the River to enjoy the sunny day and to eat the sweet apple before heading back home. There were always the evening chores to do remember!

Please enjoy your visit to Eliza Jane’s Wilkeson’s Island…bring a bicycle, bring a friend, bring a picnic, but do not come at night.
