This cache is along Underwood Parkway in Wauwatosa, overlooking the Milwaukee County flood management basin.
One of the first caches we found back in 2010 was Braid Beard's Treasure GC1ZBMF (It was our 28th to be exact). We loved that cache and it was one of the first large-sized cache containers we found in the city. At the first geocaching social event we attended in November of 2010 we were delighted to actually meet Braid Beard the pirate himself as well do some geocaching with him at that event. Shortly after we found his treasure, there was a major flood in Wauwatosa near where his treasure was hidden and he had to temporarily disable the cache. Wauwatosa, Milwaukee county, and the DNR have developed a 91-acre major plan to control the flooding of the Menomonee River and we spied a pirate who overlooks the project to assure that his treasure just down the way does not get wet from future rain storms. Can you find him too?
The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Michael Sieger of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. If placing a cache on DNR-managed land, please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager.
