Geocache Description:

This should be an easy park and grab for most.

I couldn't find a whole lot of information on 13 cabins that used to be at this site. They were built here in 1940 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The trail received its name in honor of Supreme Court Justice Thomas Dowd.
I do remember cabins here; in fact there was a nice cache placement here just before they were torn down. They were last used in 1995, and then soon after torn down. I had never spent any time here as a child but always wondered what had happened to their demise. My only guess would be that they were not a highly sought after rental. My first thought when I seen these here was moving the supplies to and from the car to the cabin. You probably won't find any remains that they even existed other then the parking areas off the road. I would like to hear any stories, memories or history someone would like to share.
