Geocache Description:

The cache is located at the top of the hill behind Miami High School. There is a dirt track leading directly up to the top, which can be accessed from Redondo Ave. The track is in fairly poor condition and caution should be used around ground zero due to a loose, gravel surface and the unfenced edges. From the top, you can take in views from Nobby Beach to Coolangatta. The hill was previously home to the Gold Coast’s first major theme park, called Magic Mountain.

In 1962, the Gold Coast’s first chairlift was built at Nobby Headland. It took visitors from the Gold Coast Highway to the top of the headland to appreciate views from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta. A café was built at the top, called Nobbys Bluff.

In 1976, the site was sold and more attractions were added. The chairlift station was upgraded to feature a souvenir shop, a train traveled up and down the hill, a dryslide was constructed and the iconic “magic” castle was built at the top. The area was renamed Magic Mountain.

In 1982, the park was sold again and underwent a major redevelopment to create a large theme park. However, in 1991, Magic Mountain closed its doors for good. The park was demolished to make way for a luxury resort, which currently still remains.

You are looking for a small camouflaged sistema container with some swaps. Please re-hide well as the area seems to attract quite a few visitors from the nearby school.
