Who is Elizabeth Mills? Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This is a nice hiking trail along the Potomac River. This part of the trail is not that heavily used however it is a narrow strip of woods between the golf course and the river so you may be visible to the golfers as you search. You can park at these cordinates:
N 39 05.238'
w 077 28.473'
Then hike the cart trail across the golf course, veer right across the open meadow to the trail.
Cache is a small container with a writing utensil, a log , and a little room for small items.
Elizabeth Mills Riverfront Park is not named for a person. It is the name of a small village near the junction of Goose Creek and the Potomac River. The ruins of the village and a old canal can be found along Goose Creek. For more history on this area go to:
www.loudounhistory.org/history/goose-creek-canal.htm
There are several caches along the Goose Creek portion of the trail but this is the only one along the Potomac. Enjoy this this little known trail. You may spot Bald Eagles, deer, racoons, herons, and other wildlife.
Congratulations Photo gal on the FTF.
