What is Waymarking?
Waymarking.com is a website created by Groundspeak which is the company that operates Geocaching.com Waymarking was designed to accommodate the Locationless, Virtual, and Webcam geocache types and after the creation of Waymarking.com those cache types were grandfathered so that no future geocaches of those types could be hidden.
Waymarking.com is a GPS Scavenger hunt for unique and interesting locations around the globe. On waymarking.com there are currently over 1000 different categories to waymark. You can waymark things like Lion statues, Blue Plaques, waterfalls, Odd-Shaped Buildings, Engrish Signs, and even commercial locations like Mcdonalds Stores. There is a waymarking category for just about everything. The great thing about the variety of categories on waymarking is the waymarking category grid, so check it out.
This geocache is a challenge for the locals here in SA to go out and look for the Waymarks that have already been published. You will need to log 50 visits, to qualify for the Challenge. You do need to post a picture on most of the waymarks to show you have made a visit to the location. While out geocaching, you should check out what Waymarks are near by, some are even at the exact site of a cache location.
Because Waymarking.com is managed by Groundspeak you can log into waymarking.com using your existing geocaching.com username and password.
Once you fulfill the requirements to complete the challenge you may find the geocache.
Any logs without successful completion of the challenge will be deleted..... You need to note in your log the Challenge is completed and add a screen shot of your Waymark stats in with the log.
The physical container is a Sistema container with a notebook & some trade items, we also have a special FTF treat for the first to complete the Challenge.
Adding to the Waymark data base is also encouraged, there are so many great places here in SA just waiting to be included
