Out the back of Fiddletown (yes there is such a place) lies a hidden valley. You wouldn't know it was there but for looking at Google Earth.
Haunted House by the Hidden Valley was hidden in January 2011 and by December 2011 had all of eight finds. This is a pity as I think it's a great place and a pretty good hide. To make the trip out to the remote reaches of Fiddletown more worthwhile two new caches have been placed in the Hidden Valley.
Beware. These caches are not wimpy pointless mint tin drive-bys. Sadly they are worth just the same in terms of numbers but as for the stories you tell when you meet up with other geocachers? No contest!
This one was placed as a sort of Two Dogs tribute. The Two Dogs were pioneer geocachers in the Sydney area and our first planned find was one of theirs ("Fenced Off"). Their caches are generally very long lasting because they hide them in relatively muggle-free spots in places not subject to fire and flood. Keep that in mind.
As for this cache it's an ammo can so not small. However the challenge is to find your way to the cache unscathed. It's not for the faint-hearted. I have given it a high terrain rating as the scrub can be very thick in places and there are drop-offs here and there. However the finders will enter a lost world - who knows what used to go on down here? You follow a remnant road most of the way but it's well overgrown. It looks like there could have been a farm down the bottom once.
I don't expect this to be found by anyone but the true geocachers. So there's your challenge. It will never be muggled.
