Bill Clinton was the 42nd U.S. president. He was born on August 19, 1946 in Arkansas. He was president from January 20, 1993 until January 20, 2001. He was affiliated with the Democratic party. While Bill Clinton was a very polarizing figure in the White House, he did have several major accomplishments. He presided over the longest economic expansion in American history with 115 straight months of economic growth. Over 22 million new jobs were created during his eight years in office, the most ever under a single administration. Perhaps the most impressive achievement of his administration was three years of budget surpluses. The surplus in 2000 was $237 billion dollars - the largest surplus ever. While there were many good things that happened during his administration it was marred by the Lewinsky scandal in 1998. He became only the second president in U.S. history to be impeached by the House of Representatives. The Senate later voted to acquit him.
