While driving out this road that connects Graves Creek Rd to Cedar Creek Road we stopped by a large gravel pile and found this hidden area!
As the sign states, this grove of trees was planted in 1986 as a 'genetic improvement program'. From the looks of things, this project went by the wayside when funds ran out. The fencing is still intact but the area looks overgrown and not maintained.
This is our second "Trees For The Future" cache. Our other one is up on Flounce Rock Road near Prospect. That test plot was done about the same time as this one, and looks about the same.
