P is for Plateau or Geocaching 102.
A cache along the Devil's Path on, you guessed it, Plateau Mountain.
The Devil's Path can be done as a backpacking adventure, if you enjoy the challenge. You can also experience some of the challenge by taking a hike that involves some of the Catskill peaks visited by the trail.
To locate this cache you will need to make your way up Plateau Mountain. Hiking up from the DEC parking on Mink Hollow Road, offers the quickest route.
The climb from the DEC parking on Mink Hollow Road follows what was once part of that road. The climb is relatively gentle, but can be a bit wet in places. Once you reach the Devil's Path, the terrain is a lot steeper. If you choose to hike from the intersection with the Devil's Path to the top, you will gain about 1300' in a little more than a mile.
