Purwell Ninesprings is one of the best places in Hertfordshire to see water voles.
 |
The water voles live amongst the reedbed and in the pond. As water voles only eat plants, the lush vegetation of the reed bed and along the ponds provides their food as well as safe hiding places from predators.
The Cache
There is plenty of roadside parking in Purwell Lane and Kingswood Avenue. Follow the Hitchin Outer Orbital Path (HOOP) to GZ. Find the water voles information board at the published coordinates and keep your eyes out for the little creatures around you!
Water vole numbers have fallen by AB% in the last CDE years.
A water vole's hairy tail is FGcm long.
The cache can be found not much further along the HOOP at North 51 56 . (A-F) D E, West 000 14 . (B+G) A (B+C)

On the way to the final cache you will pass the site of Hitchin's very own Roman Villa (on the left) and just beyond the cache on the right is Coots Corner Fishery.
The cache container is not water-tight, so please place all swaps in the SWAG bag provided and put the log book back in its bag.
This cache joins other caches on the HOOP. A list of all caches on or near this path can be found here.
Congratulations to Oystercatcher on 'First To Find'
