The Channelsea Path follows the route of a long since filled in waterway, once a part of the Bow Back Rivers.
It provides a quick link from the Greenway to the new DLR station Stratford High Street.
These areas were particularly susceptible to flooding from the River Lea which used to be tidal up to Hackney Wick.
Development at Bow Locks and Pudding Mill in particular have altered the flow and tamed the tides, lowering the river levels so much that this section of the Channelsea was left high and dry.
As you walk along the path you may see mooring rings in the old sleepers on either side.
