Geocache Description:

A bonus cache while doing the Otukaikino Reserve multi-cache.

For many years I drove past this reserve twice a day, before I eventually took the time to go for a wander. It was well worth the visit, so I stopped regularly after that.

The September 2010 earthquake caused significant damage, closing the reserve for over a year. It has recently re-opened and has been improved with lots more planting.

The reserve may be closed at night. Access to GZ may be difficult after rain or in winter due to high water levels covering the boardwalk. Best access is from the north.
