The above coordinates are for a Forestry Commission sign from which you will need to extract certain information in order to work out the coordinates of the actual cache location. This is a walk of 1.75 miles (2.82 kilometres) on good level mostly gravel tracks. Alternative return route could be a little muddy in places. The last 1000ft before GZ could include some very big puddles after any recent heavy rain in which case Wellington boots would be a good idea.
From the Forestry Commission Sign letter A - F the full date (day / month / year) on which the sign was hereto affixed as the Official Seal of the Forestry Commissioners (the month should be converted to the number of that month in the year) NB: the format of the date information to be obtained from the sign is DMYYYY [i.e. "In Witness whereof the Official Seal of the Forestry Commissioners is hereunto affixed on DMYYYY"]
The actual cache location coordinates are:
N50° (A-C)(B-C).C(B+C)F
W002° CC.(E-F)(E/F)A
Checksum for all digits of the final coords is 41
Inside the lid of the geocache container you will find some information about an interesting feature nearby to GZ.
Once you have worked out the final cache location you will know which way to turn at the way point provided (i.e. at N50° 44.082 W002° 10.952)
Cache placed with the knowledge of the Forestry Commission and in accordance with the East Dorset Forestry Commission Permission Agreement/GAGB Agreement for the Forestry Commission New Forest and East Dorset.
N.B. as part of this agreement it is not permitted to seek this cache during the hours of darkness
Please do not leave any edible items
Suggested parking co-ords at N 50 44.320 W 002 10.905 where there is room for about 4 cars.
You are looking for 1.5L camo lock and lock plastic container that when placed contained a logbook a few small swaps and a small first to find prize.
Please ensure cache is replaced well hidden.
Once you have found the cache you can return the way you came or follow the very pleasant route back to the car park as explained inside the lid of the geocache container.
Congratulations to alex.may on being first to find.
