Geocache Description:

Avian Highway VIII:

Phoenicopteriformes

Please DO NOT search for this cache at night.
They often close the gate at dusk.

You do not need to go past the wildlife refuge boundary signs.

The flamingo is a prime example of the Phoenicopteriformes order. The flamingo uses its hooked shaped bill to scoop food from the bottom of lakes and water areas. Not to be confused with the flamenco genre of music and dance. Notable Phoenicopteriformes include lawn ornament primarily found in the United States.
