This cache has been archived.

FailedApparatus: With the Mecklenburg County Park & Rec's new geocaching permit policy, this section of road is banned from having caches along it so this series must go the way of the Dodo (Raphus cucullatus).

Thanks for all those who came out to enjoy the scenery.

Geocache Description:

Avian Highway XI:

Apodiformes

Please DO NOT search for this cache at night.
They often close the gate at dusk.

You do not need to go past the wildlife refuge boundary signs.

The hummingbird is a prime example of the Apodiformes order. They have the ability to hover due to their rapid wing movement. This allows them to move in an unusual manner. They are a sucker for colored liquid hung by blue-haired senior senoritas.
