This is the fifth hole in tribute to my favorite golf courses I have played. This course is the Pohlcat.
The Pohlcat is located in West Branch, MI. It is designed by Dan Pohl, a pioneer of Long Driving. He had incredible distance in his golf shots and actually still does, as he still competes on a limited basis on the Champions Tour. Being a long drive competitor, and a Remax World Long Drive Finalist, I enjoy courses that are set up somewhat, for the long ball, with a "Grip It And Rip It" mentality. The Pohlcat has that, long par 5's and longish par 4's. What I also enjoy is that it has several sets of tees to accomodate all golfer lengths and skills. What I really like is that should you feel the need to get a golf lesson while you are there, he is the acting teaching professional and usually he is there roaming around the clubhouse which is rare for former players. The Pohlcat is a very nice course and great fun.
For those that don't know, a "MULLIGAN" is a term we use in golf for a "do-over" shot. Perhaps it was because you hit your 1st drive in the trees, or you topped the ball 10 feet, a Mulligan just provides a golfer another chance when playing with friends. Usually allowed only 1 a round, it is often strategic when played... That leads me to this cache---My Mulligan for the first cache I placed here in my series. Originally, this cache was out on the river and you had to climb out on the logs. Well, the almighty Rouge River about dessimated the original hiding spot, so time to move on to another spot nearby. Just because you DON'T HAVE TO CLIMB OUT ON THE RIVER doesn't mean I was going to take it easy on you....LOL.
Once at the start of the trail, it is a nice walk, which can be slippery at times, along a well travelled path. Also, after heavy rains, some parts of the trail are impassible, so detour when necessary. Bring your bug spray in the summer months.
The cache you are looking for is between a "small" and "regular" size. There are TONS of hiding spots in this area and you are going to have to search around a lot of spots, so bring some gloves, patience and a good "geosense". Have fun with this, I know I did when I hid it!!!
Please rehide in the exact same spot, and cover it up a bit with the surrounding camo...also $1.00 first to find fee!!!
