How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This cache will take you to the idyllic harbour front of Gosport which is suitable for wheelchair users and buggies however wheelchair users may wish to consider the fact that the container is placed at ground level.

This ‘Millennium Timespace’ is one of the largest vertical sundials in the world. It is one of the features of the new Millennium Promenade at Gosport which was part of the Renaissance of Portsmouth Harbour Millennium Project, supported by a £38 million lottery grant from the Millennium Commission.

The ‘Millennium Timespace’ sundial spans 40 metres across with a 17 metre high mast. By day, cones on the mast will cast a time-telling shadow while by night a light clock will tell the time to passers by using LED lights in the paving of the new Millennium Promenade.

You are looking for a ‘micro’ container containing only a log so please bring your own pen. Tweezers may be useful to retrieve the log.

Please do not load photographs showing the cache container to the website.

This cache can be done along with several others in the area or whilst you are at the site of this cache you may wish to complete the following Geocache challenge (visit link)

Please use a lot of stealth with this one when removing and replacing the stash as this can be an extremely high muggle area. I have found when inspecting many of my own caches that they have not been replaced where I originally put them, leaving me with a challenge each time I need to maintain them so I would appreciate it if you would please replace 'exactly' as you find, which in turn should be where I placed it!

Free 1 hour parking is normally available in Mumby Road just a short walk from the gardens or for a quick cache and dash there is also 20 minute parking available at the ferry gardens near to the taxi rank.
